What is the Georgia Undergraduate Research in Psychology Conference?The Georgia Undergraduate Research in Psychology (GURP) Conference is a one-day conference for all students interested in research in Psychology. It is hosted by the Department of Psychological Science at Kennesaw State University. We welcome students from high school, college, and early graduate students in Georgia and beyond! Students do not need to be Psychology majors/minors to attend or present. Presentations from all fields of Psychology and related disciplines are welcomed.

When and where will the GURP conference be held?The Georgia Undergraduate Research in Psychology Conference will be held on April 5, 2025 on the Kennesaw campus of Kennesaw State University.

Who can attend the GURP conference?Although the conference is primarily geared toward undergraduate students, high school and early graduate students (i.e., first or second year), their faculty mentors, and any other faculty members interested in psychology research are also welcome to attend and/or present at GURP. We welcome students from all across Georgia and beyond!

What is the cost to register for the GURP conference?Click here for GURP registration costs. The registration fee includes breakfast and lunch.

Is registration required?All GURP conference participants, including presenters, are required to register for the conference. Although we strongly encourage registration before the March 29, 2025 deadline, we will accept late registrations on the same day of the conference. Early bird, regular, and late registration costs are listed on the Registration page.

How can I request an accommodation?We welcome people with disabilities. All rooms used for the GURP conference are physically accessible to people who use wheelchairs or other mobility devices, and there is an elevator in the center of the building where the conference will be held. Please indicate the accommodations you need in the online registration form. If you plan to register on the day of the event or if you have questions about accessibility, please email us at GURP@kennesaw.edu. Requests should be made at least one week prior to the conference.

Can my friend or family member attend my presentation?All GURP attendees are required to register for the conference. If you have a friend or family member who will only be attending your presentation, after you have registered, you may register them as your guest by emailing GURP@kennesaw.edu with their full name and your name and presentation title/time. Please note that you are expected to communicate with your guest that their registration is only for your presentation, and your guest should remain with you during your presentation. Registered attendees are responsible for their guests during their attendance. Guests will not receive tickets for meals or workshops included in the registration fees. If your guest is a high school, college, or early graduate student and would like to attend the whole conference, they should register here.

What types of presentations are accepted (e.g., posters, oral presentations)?GURP accepts proposals for poster, oral presentations, and flash talks. More details about the types of presentations are available here.

How can I submit a proposal for a presentation?Check out this link for instructions to submit a proposal.

What is the deadline for proposal submissions?All proposals must be submitted no later than February 7, 2025.

When will I know if my proposal was accepted?We will send all acceptances by March 7, 2025. Acceptances will only be sent to the first author and the research mentor; the first author is responsible for notifying their other research team members (if applicable).

What are the guidelines for preparing my presentation or poster?We will email the first author and faculty mentor regarding the status of each submission. This email will include specific guidelines about preparing your poster or presentation. In the meantime, details are available on the Types of Presentations page.

Will there be keynote speakers or special sessions?Yes! The 2025 GURP Conference will include a keynote speaker and special sessions related to the conference topic, “Mind Matters: Mental Health in a Changing World.” Additional details will be available on the GURP main page closer to the conference.

Are there opportunities for networking and meeting other attendees?We encourage GURP participants to network and meet other attendees during meals and interactive sessions (e.g., poster sessions) and at the designated networking space.

Will meals or refreshments be provided during the conference?Breakfast and lunch are included in your conference registration fee. If you have any dietary restrictions, please note them in the registration form.

Are travel and lodging provided for attendees?GURP does not coordinate travel and lodging. However, we have secured a reduced nightly rate for participants who wish to book a hotel room near the KSU campus.
